The Start of Something

Nothum began its journey as a guttering company many years before expanding into manufacturing. As they expanded their horizons, Robert Nothum Sr. saw the need for a breading machine. Ultimately leading to the development of the SK 71-A in 1971.

A Little Bit of Everything

Nothum became known as the shop that made it all. This expansion included all types of food processing equipment such as ovens, mixers, spiral freezers, dumpers, shuttle conveyors, and more. We additionally developed 6" , 8", 10", 14", 24", 36" belt width machines at this time.

Bob Nothum, Jr. joined the family business, working alongside his father to pioneer equipment that would redefine the food processing industry.

Growing the Business

The introduction of the SK Breader in 1988, was Nothum's first take on separating batter and breading from being done in one machine.

Nothum’s 25th anniversary as a family owned business was welcomed by introducing their first drum breader - the NRP.

Unveiling the BatterPro

The launch of the BatterPro was a pivotal moment in food processing history due to its ability to execute four functions within a single machine. This design set a new standard for efficiency and versatility.

Strategic Family Vision

Robert M. Nothum became the first member of the third generation of Nothums to join the family business. His expertise shaped business plans, developed marketing efforts, and steered the sales team towards success.

The SuperFlex’s Debut

The first installation of SuperFlex marked a milestone in the food processing industry. A versatile breading machine that transformed how ingredients and textures were added to the products.

Becoming Industry Specialists

Nothum shifted its focus to exclusively developing batter, breading, and frying equipment to produce the best machines in the field.

Continued Legacy of Quality

Nothum continued to develop even more refinements in breading applications, by releasing the first PankoPro to market.

The Strength of the Nothum Name

Ryan and Brad Nothum continued to grow the 3rd generation. Ryan brought expertise in food science, raising industry standards in food safety and quality. Brad's experience in supply chain management expanded Nothum's shipping and receiving divisions.
2015 ProTherm model

2015

Revolutionizing Efficiency: ProTherm HP

After creating Nothum’s first fryer in 2003, the installation of the ProTherm HP in 2015 marked a new standard for the company. This machine reshaped efficiency in food processing and received significant support from investors due to its remarkable features. These innovations included a lower oil charge, rapid oil turnover, and minimal Free Fatty Acids.

European Expansion

In 2017, Nothum solidified its global footprint by creating Nothum B.V. This marked its official expansion into European, Middle Eastern, Asian, and other international markets.

Launching Our All-Stainless Line

In 2019, Nothum built the all HDX equipment line, aiming to improve durability and hygiene of our machinery.

2021

50th Years of Family Manufacturing

As of 2021, Nothum proudly commemorated 50 years as a family-owned and operated manufacturing enterprise and opened a remote office in Asia to tap into new markets and better serve international clients.

Announcing the 54" Line

In 2022, Nothum launched the 54-Inch Line, a pivotal milestone in their manufacturing journey. Each machine underwent a meticulous review to boost capacity and marked a leap in efficiency and productivity for Nothum’s equipment.

2023

Groundbreaking Filtration

In 2023, Nothum broke ground on an expansion to the manufacturing facility on Pythian St. in Springfield, MO. The company also welcomed the 4th generation of the family to the team, opened a second remote office in the Middle East, and saw the launch of the HydroFilter. This compact device improved air quality and cleanliness by connecting to multiple machines, setting a new standard for clean workspaces.

Fortifi Acquires Nothum Food Processing Systems

On April 18th, 2024, Fortifi Food Processing Solutions (“Fortifi”), a global leader in food processing equipment and automation solutions, announced their acquisition of Nothum Food Processing Systems (“Nothum”).
